The Art of Living

Art of Living is a non-profit NGO engaged in educational and humanitarian services. It was started by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in the year 1981. The organization’s guiding philosophy is that of peace. It has pioneered initiatives in stress-management and general well being. It preaches everyone to have a stress free mind and to get rid of stress as well as to experience inner peace.

It organizes its camps in 151 countries all over the world. The programmes are conducted by Sri Sri Ravishankar, which helps people to get rid of stress and experience inner peace. The main motive is stress-free mind and a violence-free society.

The Foundation offers stress free programmes and it includes breathing techniques, meditation and yoga. These programmes help millions of people to overcome stress, depression and violent tendencies. It spreads peace all over the world through various humanitarian projects, environmental sustainability, conflict resolution, disaster relief, empowerment of women, sustainable rural development, prisoner rehabilitation and education for all.

It run courses like Art of Meditation, Art of Silence, Wisdom Series, DSN (do something now) and Group Practice Sessions.

Here one can learn about the “Sudarshan Kriya” that incorporates specific natural rhythms of the breath which harmonize the body, mind and emotions. “Ayurveda” the ancient Indian system of natural and holistic medicine means “the science of life”. “Meditation” that offers innumerable benefits. And “Yoga” that brings the mind to the present moment, improving clarity and alertness in the mind. The mind becomes peaceful and is able to deal with day-to-day stress.
