ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) is also popularly known as the Hare Krishna Temple. It is a worldwide chain of temples. This most beautiful temple of Lord Krishna is located in Mumbai. It is set upon four acres of prime Hare Krishna land in Juhu. This spiritual movement was founded by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada in July 1966 in New York. The temple in Mumbai was opened for the devotees in the year 1978, in the form of a spiritual oasis.
It is a place for worship, meditation and spiritual knowledge, which advocates the principles of Bhagvad Gita as taught by Lord Krishna. The temple gives a peaceful and calm environment, where people take part in various spiritual programs & activities of the temple and engaged in deep meditation. The temple complex has a big marble temple, a book publishing house, an auditorium, and a vegetarian restaurant besides a twin towered guest house of six stories for the lodgng needs of the guests visiting the complex.Lots of devotees and pilgrims visit this place everyday for spiritual pleasure and to realize the inner consciousness.
From its humble beginnings, ISKCON today has more than 400 temples, 40 rural communities and over 100 vegetarian restaurants all over the world.
